“The next major wave of deforestation is happening in Africa. Not in the moist forests but in the adjacent dry forests,” said Scholes, speaking at a forest themed side event in Durban this week. “They have half as much carbon per hectare, but they have twice the area.”
It’s probably fair to say that lidar systems work best in woodland and medium density forest, rather than the densest tropical forest, so we aim to tailor our multispectral sensor so that it is just perfect for such conditions.
